John Cannavan

Born in Glasgow in 1950,John studied drawing and painting at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen, graduating in 1971. He later added an Honours degree in Art History from the Open University.

After many years of teaching art in Edinburgh schools, John now concentrates full time on painting from his Edinburgh studio. Working mainly in oils and watercolour, he draws his subject matter from the landscape, townscape, coastline and wildlife of Scotland.

John’s vibrant, evocative and painterly work is exhibited in several galleries throughout the country and is in many private collections in the U.K. and abroad.
