Ingrid Fraser

Ingrid was born in Lochgilphead in 1984, and grew up near Montrose. Graduating from Gray’s School of Art in 2006, she headed north to base herself in Moray. In June 2007 she was presented an Award at the inaugural ‘Jolomo Awards Scotland’ and has been exhibiting in select group shows and open exhibitions across the North East, in Edinburgh, Argyll and London, leading up to her first solo exhibition at the Inchmore Gallery early in 2009.

“I work mainly with oils on canvas and mixed media drawings, concentrating on producing landscape based paintings. My practice focuses on people’s relationship with the Scottish landscape and the marks we leave behind us. My personal experience of a place through drawing, memory and emotive response, combined with extensive inquiry into the history of the use of a place is fundamental to my creative practice. Remnants of human activity presented against shapes, textures and colours occurring in nature are considered through differing applications of paint. Ultimately the work aims to draw attention to our interaction with our surroundings and perhaps the way the land we live in shapes us.”
