Alan Paterson.

Alan was brought up on a farm at Speybay, and it was there that he first started painting and drawing. His art teacher at Milnes high school, Bill Smith, honed his skills sufficiently enough to take him to art college in Aberdeen. After college Alan tried various other occupations, but it wasn't until his father had a heart attack in the early 80s, that Alan, returned to the area and after a year on the farm started painting full time thanks to the enterprise allowance scheme. He set up along with some friends the Broomhead gallery in the early 90,s, and then Still life gallery, with his partner Kerry Stewart. These days Alan spends most of his time framing, from Still life, but still manages to get time to paint. He has tried most mediums being most renowned for his pen and inks, though watercolour is his current fascination. His subjects range from landscapes to whisky cartoons and he has had his work published in a book on the subject, by the Scotch doc. A Texan whisky lover. Alans work can be viewed as can he at Still life gallery and framers in Aberlour.
